The difference you make Past appeals Bristol Eye Hospital Appeal Your generosity advances patient care, transforms lives and aids recovery The impact that kind donations make to the Eye Hospital is huge. Your support will mean that we have the latest treatments, surgery techniques and research right here in Bristol. What could be a better gift than the gift of sight? Just think of the difference you would make to that person’s life. Thanks to the generosity of our supporters there is a new machine that is revolutionising doctor’s training. The Eyesi Virtual Reality Surgical Simulator enables junior doctors to train for cataract and retinal surgery. This provides them with the same experience they would have during actual operations. It can be made to simulate simple or complex cases and the trainee surgeon can repeatedly practice how to deal with complications. This makes all the difference to doctors training and enhances the treatment of their patients. Your support means the best possible care on our doorstep. Richard Haynes, consultant surgeon at Bristol Eye Hospital explains its importance: “We are extremely fortunate to have this piece of equipment. Prior to this our trainees would have limited opportunities to use a simulator. As the South West's major teaching hospital for ophthalmic surgery, and an important centre for eye surgery referrals, we are delighted to be able to offer this facility to our junior doctors.” Your kind support will give Bristol Eye Hospital the equipment and facilities it needs to provide you with the very best care and treatment.
