Donate in memory
It's traditional to give flowers at a funeral, but more and more people are choosing to commemorate the life of a loved one by donating to a cause close to their heart. Gifts made in memory like this are especially important to Above & Beyond, as they’re a very personal way of remembering someone, whilst also supporting our hospitals.
Above & Beyond can provide donation envelopes to use for a funeral collection. They can be handed back to the person who organised the collection or sent directly back to us.
Remember someone special by making a donation to Bristol's hospitals. You can choose where you would like the money to benefit. It might be the ward or hospital where your loved one was treated, or a more general donation to help across all our hospitals.
Above & Beyond is the offical charity for the following hospitals and administers donations given to them:
- Bristol Royal Infirmary
- Bristol Royal Hospital for Children
- Bristol Haematology & Oncology Centre
- Bristol Heart Institute
- Bristol Dental Hospital
- Bristol Eye Hospital
- St Michael's Hospital inc. NICU
- South Bristol Community Hospital
You can donate online here.
There’s the opportunity for people to let us know the name of the deceased, so that we can make sure the donor is properly acknowledged in our ‘thank you’ letter.
Or send a cheque with the name of the person to whom the donation is dedicated, the hospital the donation is to benefit, and your contact details to:
Above & Beyond, The Abbot’s House, Blackfriars, Bristol, BS1 2NZ.
We can also supply information for you to set up an online tribute page where friends and family can donate in memory and share photos and stories.
A memorial gift in lieu of flowers
If you would like to ask for donations in lieu of flowers at a loved one's funeral, we can help you:
- We can liaise directly with the funeral director if you wish.
- We can provide special donation envelopes.
- We'll ensure that the money goes to the hospital or ward that means the most.
