We aim to be clear when we are collecting your data and not do anything with your data that you would not reasonably expect.  

Developing a better understanding of our supporters through their personal data allows us to make better decisions, fundraise more efficiently and, ultimately helps us to provide more support for the Bristol city centre hospitals. We will only contact you via email, SMS and text if you have explicitly stated you are happy for us to do so. 

We are aiming to move to an opt-in only communication policy by May 2020. From that date we will only send marketing communications by post to people who have explicitly stated that they are happy for us to do so. 

We will rely on our legitimate interests until May 2020 to contact our existing donors and supporters by post, and have therefore undertaken a legitimate interest’s assessment.  The outcome of this assessment is that we believe it is in our interests to use postal details to send direct marketing communications to existing donors and supporters.  This is because we believe there is an existing expectation from our donors and supporters that we will keep them informed about our activities and the funding needs of the hospitals.  

We believe there is limited impact on the rights, freedoms and expectations of our donors and supporters. Supporters and donors are able to easily exercise their right to object to direct marketing, by emailing us on [email protected] or calling us on 0117 927 7120.        

From May 2020 for new donors and supporters we will rely on legitimate interests for 12 months after your first contact with us to contact you by post.  If you have not opted-in and explicitly stated that you are happy for us to contact you by post within 12 months, we will no longer contact you by post.

The type and quantity of information we collect and how we use it depends on why we have asked you to provide it.  We will only collect data we need including data that will help us improve our services.
