What is Cycle Against Cancer?

Cycle Against Cancer is Above & Beyond’s virtual 450km cycling challenge event in support of the Bristol Against Cancer campaign.

What is the date of the event?

Participants will be challenged with cycling 450km over any length of time during September, October and November, when the Bristol Against Cancer campaign will run.

Where can I do the Cycle Against Cancer challenge?

Cycle Against Cancer is a virtual event and, therefore, very flexible. You can complete the 450km outdoors, on a turbo trainer or on a home or gym exercise bike.

If you'd like to complete your challenge outside, we just ask that you follow Government guidelines in place at the time to ensure the safety of everyone involved.

How fit do I need to be to take part?

This challenge is intended to suit all abilities, from absolute beginners upwards. You can make the challenge more manageable by covering the 450km over a longer period of time, e.g. three months.

If you still don’t think it’s for you, take a look at our Challenge Against Cancer. You can take on any challenge you want – cycling, walking, running – and set your own distances and duration. If you need any advice, our fundraising team is on hand to help.

Is there an age limit for Cycle Against Cancer?

No, and we would love as many people as possible to take part in Cycle Against Cancer. We do ask that if you are under 16 you get consent from your parent or guardian.

Will I get support with my virtual challenge?

After you sign up, our team will be in touch to welcome you to the challenge and be there to support you every kilometre of the way from there on in.

If you have any questions in the meantime you can email our fundraising team at [email protected].

Is there a registration fee?

There is no registration fee for Cycle Against Cancer.

What is the fundraising target?

There is no minimum fundraising target for Cycle Against Cancer however we’re asking all participants to aim to raise £150 for Bristol Against Cancer.

How do I collect money from sponsors?

The best way to raise funds is through JustGiving, where you can set a target, update your progress and share your story. We’ve set up a JustGiving page so you can see how others are getting on too. If you need help with setting this up just let our fundraising team know.

If you don’t want to use JustGiving we can provide you with downloadable sponsorship forms to share with your contacts. You can also use these as a means of collecting any cash donations to your challenge and donors can add gift aid where applicable.

If you want to take part but not fundraise, you’re still welcome to do so, but we’d encourage that you make a small donation yourself which you can make through our JustGiving page.

How do I pay in my fundraising?

Donations made directly to your JustGiving page will come to us automatically, so you don’t have to do anything.

Any cash donations you have taken can be paid in by yourself to your fundraising page. If you have a sponsorship form(s) this can be emailed across to us at [email protected] or posted to the below address.

Cheques can be sent to: Cycle Against Cancer Challenge, Above & Beyond, Whitefriars, Lewins Mead, Bristol, BS1 2NT.

Please ensure these are made payable to Above & Beyond and include a note with your name and the fundraising you’ve been doing. We strongly recommend that you do not send cash in the post.

If you have a question that hasn’t been answered here please do send us an email to [email protected] and we’ll get back in touch as soon as possible.
