On Friday 4 May 2018, 100 cyclists will set off from Bristol city centre for four unforgettable days in the saddle.

Setting off from Ashton Court they will spend two days cycling through quintessentially countryside en-route to Portsmouth. Then they set sail to France for two more action packed days before crossing the Seine to finish triumphant at the foot of the Eiffel Tower.

"If you're considering signing up then just do it. You will not regret it - I definitely don't!"

Help save lives

Money raised in 2018 will make all the difference to children like  Amy, Eve, Eric and Fleur and their mum's Jo and Laura who experienced complicated pregnancies.

We were monitored very closely and had regular ultrasound scans. Thanks to these scans at 22 weeks, they picked up that I had developed twin to twin transfusion syndrome - a serious and potentially fatal condition. We were given the odds that the girls only had a 40% chance of surviving.

"The team operated on the foetuses inside the womb and three and a half years later, we have our cheeky twins who love riding their bikes, playing with trains and swimming."

Every year the Fetal Medicine Unit at St Michael's Hospital performs over 3,500 ultrasound scans on mums-to-be with complicated pregnancies.

As a specialist unit covering the South West and South Wales, the dedicated team of doctors and specialist midwives work with families to detect conditions and abnormalities such as rhesus disease and twin to twin transfusion syndrome. Unless diagnosed and treated with the aid of sophisticated ultrasound technology, babies with these conditions are at high risk of dying inside the womb.

Help us raise £150,000

We urgently need your help to raise £150,000 for a new 3D ultrasound scanner in the Fetal Medicine Unit at St Michael's Hospital. This state of the art piece of equipment will provide greater diagnostic accuracy for fetal imaging, vital for conducting life-saving in-utero procedures and facilitating prenatal bonding.Laura with husband Andy, Fleur and Eric - photo credit Dee Robertson

"This technology is saving a child's life before they're even born, as well as saving a couple from the devestating possibility of losing their baby.

"Thanks to the staff at St Michael's Fetal Medicine Unit, we have two children who otherwise wouldn't be here full stop."
