Sarah Talbot Williams
It is great to be part of a small responsive team of committed staff working hard to support our hospitals and community health services. It is also a really uplifting experience working with and supporting such a large health services team who are all so focused on getting the very best for their patients. I have been involved with Above and Beyond for a relatively short time but have already seen it grow, develop and strengthen significantly. We have recently undertaken a full strategic review, which has enabled us to produce a clear five year plan highlighting our priorities so that we can do more and more for patients and their families across Bristol and in the wider region.
Previously I was Interim Chief Executive and Director of Communications and Campaigning for CLIC Sargent, the children’s cancer charity. I was there for five years.
My career has developed not just through 16 years working in the voluntary sector, but I have worked in the commercial and public policy arenas both in the UK and Brussels.
Although not a trustee at the moment, I have taken on a number of voluntary roles including regional trustee for BBC Children in Need, Board advisor for Leaps and Bounds, and Governor for Bath Spa University. I also do hands on volunteering for charities locally and nationally working with youth at risk, people who are homeless and children with cancer. I always want to personally grow and use any skill I have to support the local community. It was for that reason I completed a major Common Purpose programme which I found invaluable to my knowledge and development in Bristol.
When I can, I spend my spare time silver-smithing and singing – normally separately but sometimes together. I also love travelling and photography.
