Above and Beyond Charities is governed by a Board of six Trustees. They include both Trustees nominated by the NHS organisations we serve as well as lay Trustees. They are voluntary positions and are appointed independently by the Appointments Commission.
Our six current Trustees:
Professor Richard Dixon (Chairman)
Former Vice-Chairman of the United Bristol Healthcare Trust and Emeritus Professor of Chemistry and Senior Research Fellow of the University of Bristol.
Term of office: October 2003 to September 2011
Mrs Joan Bayliss
Former Chair of the Public and Patient Involvement Forum for the United Bristol Healthcare Trust.
Term of office: January 2005 - December 2012
Mr Graham Nix
Former Finance Director and Deputy Chief Executive for the University Hospitals Bristol. He is also a Non-Executive Director for the North Somerset Primary Care Trust and a Gateway Reviewer for NHS Wales.
Term of office: March 2007- February 2011
Emma Woollett
Emma has been a Non-Executive Director and Vice Chair of University Hospitals Bristol NHS Foundation Trust for over three years. She is also a freelance management consultant, working primarily for NHS organisations outside the NHS Southwest area.
Term of office: October 2009 - September 2013
Mr Richard Sandwell
Richard was a founder partner of the Business Advisory Services arm of Ernst & Young. He has not only been involved in developing and implementing business strategy and performance improvement for a wide variety of private sector companies, but he has also worked with NHS organisations. He is now developing his own consultancy company.

Caro Ness
Caro has spent her working life in publishing, is an award winning author in her own right and is published in 14 countries. She is a Musgrove Partner (Taunton & Somerset NHS Foundation Trust) and is also a Trustee of Brunel Care, a charity that works to care for people in their own home.
