Above & Beyond is governed by a Board of seven Trustees. They include both Trustees nominated by the NHS organisations we serve as well as lay Trustees. They are voluntary positions and are appointed independently by the Appointments Commission.
Our seven current Trustees:
Graham Nix (Chairman)
Graham is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants and has held the positions of Acting Chief Executive, Deputy Chief Executive and Director of Finance of the United Bristol Healthcare NHS Trust the former body to the current UHB. Graham was also the Project Director for the New Bristol Royal Hospital for Children until its opening in April 2001. He has been a Trustee Director for Brook Bristol as well as Chair of Council for St John Ambulance Avon. Graham is currently a Non Executive Director with North Somerset Primary Care Trust and Chairs the Audit Committee.

Sue Jamison
Sue Jamison is a Management Consultant with a background in general management and marketing within the healthcare industry. Sue was a Non-Executive Director at Weston Area Health Trust for 8 years and prior to joining Weston was member of the board at East Berkshire NHS Trust for 4 years. Sue is also a Trustee of the Children's Institute Charity in India.

Emma Woollett
Emma has been a Non-Executive Director of University Hospitals Bristol NHS Foundation Trust since 2006 and is Vice Chair for the trust. She is also a freelance management consultant, working primarily for NHS organisations outside the NHS Southwest area. Her background is in the private sector, spending time in the oil industry, as a management consultant and as a Marketing Director for Somerfield plc.

Joan Bayliss
Joan's career was in education and she was a Relate counsellor for many years. She has been involved with UHB since becoming the first chair of the Trust's Public Patient Involvement Forum in 2004 and joined Above and Beyond as a Trusree because she saw it as a way to help her understand the complex needs of the patients and staff of an oganisation which is at the heart of the health and wellbeing of the city.She is now a member of Bristol Local Involvement Network and the Community Foundation Governor.

Drummond Forbes
Drummond is a Pharmacist and has worked in the Pharmaceutical Industry and the NHS in Bristol as Director of Pharmacy for University Hospitals Bristol. Presently, he is managing the UK affiliate for a French Pharmaceutical Company based in Lyon.

Richard Sandwell
Richard was a founder partner of the Business Advisory Services arm of Ernst & Young. He has not only been involved in developing and implementing business strategy and performance improvement for a wide variety of private sector companies, but he has also worked with NHS organisations. He is now developing his own consultancy company.

Caro Ness
Caro has spent her working life in publishing, is an award winning author in her own right and is published in 23 countries. As well as being a Trustee of Above and Beyond. Caro is a Brunelcare trustee and service user, a charity that specializes in care. She is also a former trustee of Compass Disability and lay member of the CJD Incidents Panel for the NHS. A Musgrove Partner, she is a lay member of her local hospital, sitting on governance committees and interview panels and the Clinical audit panel, as well as editing the leaflets that leave the hospital. She sits on the South West Medical Research Committee, is a lay reviewer for Health Services Research and is a Tutor for the Expert Patients Programme.
