Above and Beyond Charities - The Charitable Trust for the United Bristol Hospitals

We have had some amazing support for the Appeal from donors and fundraisers, including those who took part in our daredevil zip wire, ran the Bristol 10k and sponsored the cardiac surgeons on their 200 mile cycle ride around the South West.

One of our most famous supporters was former patient of the Bristol cardiac services and intrepid explorer, Sir Ranulph Fiennes. Sir Ranulph took a moment from his gruelling training schedule to attend the Above & Beyond Charities Champagne Reception and see the work of the appeal at first hand. "Bristol is a good place to have a heart attack" he joked and praised Prof Gianni Angelini and the team at the BRI. Sir Ranulph had a double heart bypass in 2003 after suffering a heart attack while sitting in an aircraft at Bristol airport. He later went on to run seven marathons in seven days and this year successfully climbed Mount Everest.
