2011 Bright Ideas Competition Winners Announced
The 2011Bright Ideas competition co-sponsored by Above & Beyond has proven to be a great success. The competiton was introduced to encourage innovative product ideas originated by hospital staff to become a reality for patients.
A total of 36 entries were received from staff across University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and eight projects were shortlisted for the panel presentation that took place on December 1st. David Wynick, Director of Research and Robert Woolley, Chief Executive of the Trust welcomed the standard of entries in the competitions second year and highlighted the crucial importance of innovation to the NHS. Six winners were chosen and five entrants were highly commended.
Sarah Talbot-Williams, Chief Executive at Above & Beyond explained:
"We were really inspired by the dedication of hospital staff to coming up with bright ideas in their own time for new products that will benefit future patient care. Our trustee Sue Jamison who was on the judging panel, was very impressed by the quality of the applications. We look forward to seeing the products developed and coming onto the market in future."
