Caroline Lansdown was born with Congenital Heart Disease and had her first surgery at the age of 18. Now, twenty-five years later she has just completed the Flora London Marathon and has raised over £1000 for the Heart of Bristol Appeal. [Read more]

Lucy Marsden, a S.H.O at Bristol’s Dental Hospital joined over fifty other daredevil fundraisers at the Avon Gorge to take part in the Above & Beyond Charities Zip Wire. [Read more]

Members of the University Hospitals Bristol Cardiac Team are limbering up for a two hundred plus mile bike ride across the South West. Consultant Cardiologist, Dr Julian Strange and the team are celebrating the opening of the Bristol Heart Institute (BHI) and helping to raise the final £75,000 of the £800,000 Heart of Bristol Appeal. On Monday 20 October 2008, hundreds of guests gathered in the Wills Memorial Building for the Bristol Heart Institute’s Annual Public Lecture. A massive congratulations to all those who took the plunge! On Saturday 26 April we had over 70 brave volunteers zip from the roof of the Bristol Haematology and Oncology Centre to raise money in aid of the Heart of Bristol Appeal. Ward 35 in the Bristol Royal Hospital of Children has made a tremendous effort this year to fundraise for their ward. [Read more]

The Balloon Fiesta Mural was designed and painted by Clare Calascione and Helen Phillips, with additional help from many others. It was started in Nov. 95 and completed in time for the Aug. 96 Balloon Fiesta weekend. [Read more]

Mark Regan is a rugby legend. Currently playing for Bristol Rugby, he has been capped for England 33 times and has received the ultimate accolade having been capped for the British Lions. [Read more]

Congratulations to two very brave fundraisers both of whom have completed dare-devil parachute jumps in support of our Hospitals. [Read more]

A total team of 22 AA men drove from John O’Groats to Land’s End in a selection of vintage vehicles to raise money for the Children’s Hospital. [Read more]

The Bone Marrow Transplant department and the Children’s Oncology Unit at the Children’s hospital held a successful fete on Saturday, August 12th. [Read more]

Bristol call centre advisor Jackie Jones has masterminded the raising of £4,500 for a specialist unit at Bristol Royal Infirmary, after being inspired by the quality of treatment and care she received for serious bowel disease [Read more]

On Thursday 22 June 2006 Jane Tucker, Sarah Tyson, Amanda Ferdinondo, Sarah Holyday and Chris Hood visited the Special Care Baby Unit at St Michael’s Hospital to celebrate the delivery of not one but two new incubators to the Unit. The incubators have been made possible thanks to the fundraising efforts of Kingfisher Netball Team and Avery Estate Agents in raising nearly £22,000. [Read more]

Last financial year, the Charity Trustees approved 53 major grants each with a value in excess of £10,000, totalling over £1.2million. [Read more]

There has been a fantastic response to the Above & Beyond Appeal’s first zip wire down the Avon Gorge with over 110 people taking part! [Read more]

Mark Regan, the renowned Bristol Rugby Club player who was also part of the British Lion’s team which brought home the World Cup in 2003, has kindly nominated Bristol Royal Hospital for Children as one of the beneficiary charities from his benefit year in 2006/2007. [Read more]

Stephen Bavister has been appointed to the new position of Treasurer with the Charitable Trusts for the United Bristol Hospitals. Stephen started on 16 August and works Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. [Read more]

Roger Baird, the High Sheriff of Bristol and a leading Consultant Vascular Surgeon at the BRI, has agreed to become the first member of our Board of Appeal. [Read more]
