Projects we're supporting

Every year the Bristol Heart Institute team will treat thousands of patients from across the Southwest. The aim of the ‘Heart of Bristol Appeal’ is to make what is already set to be a great facility even better. We need your support to ensure we can make a real difference to the lives of patients and visitors using the Centre. The projects the ‘Heart of Bristol Appeal’ is supporting fall into two categories:
Creating a positive healing environment
The aim of the Appeal is to help fulfil the vision for this exciting new development of delivering a positive and welcoming environment. The projects which aim to achieve this include:
- Making the Atrium a welcoming, comfortable space for patients and visitors
- Furnishing and equipping two visitor accommodation rooms
- Enhancing interview and day rooms
- Funding an arts programme for the centre (a first for adult care within Bristol’s acute hospitals)
Enhancing medical equipment and technology
All core medical equipment is funded by the NHS. However additional funding from the Heart of Bristol Appeal aims to provide the latest technology. Projects the appeal wishes to support include:
- Providing tele-medicine facilities to link with centres throughout the region. This will enable urgent consultations, referrals and advice within a matter of minutes with direct audio visual technology. Leading clinicians will be able to share their expertise with fellow professionals and students in real-time case conferences, teaching sessions and tele-conferencing.
- Enhancing and upgrading of the centre’s patient monitoring system which will become fully integrated and digital to allow maximum mobility for convalescing patients while they are being fully monitored.
