Above and Beyond Charities - The Charitable Trust for the United Bristol Hospitals

Angeline is a medical student at the University of Bristol and wanted to be involved in something that could relate to her course, but was also sustainable and convenient.

"Most importantly though I support the cause we're working for, because it's unbelievable what a huge impact good hospital facilities have on both the patients and the healthcare providers and surely we all agree that Bristol deserves the best - it's an amazing city and we all love it here!"

We've just started a student run initiative at the University for Above and Beyond, and this year we're hoping to include as many people as we can in all our activities and events, spread the word about us and what we do, and hopefully organize loads of fun projects and make this a sustainable effort together!

Jane, who is now a member of staff here, also started her involvement with the Charity through volunteering.

"Becoming a volunteer with Above and Beyond helped me get my life back on track and I wanted to give something back to the hospital for all the good things they had done for my late husband Mike. The people at Above and Beyond made me feel very welcome every time I saw them and I met some lovely people around the hospitals which boosted my confidence. To have a bit of a structure back in my life made such a difference and improving my office skills was an added bonus. I now work for Above and Beyond and my life has turned around."

Kat volunteers at Above & Beyond for a couple of hours each week.

"I like working here. The people are friendly and it's a really nice location. I am learning lots of different things and hope that my experience here will improve my CV."
