Our Achievements

Making a difference for over 30 years: examples of our support
In over 30 years, we have been able to distribute more than 50 million raised through
donations. Every penny has made a real difference to the medical facilities and patient
support services in the United Bristol Hospitals. The list of accomplishments is extensive.
Here is just a small selection of what your donations have helped us achieve:
-
The University Hospitals Bristol Education Centre was built to provide facilities for numerous learning and
clinical skills departments, including the Institute of Child Life and Health that
provides education and research into childrens diseases.
-
There is a constant need for specialist and leading equipment - with donor funds we
have been able to make purchases including an MRI scanner, CT scanner, Cardiac Catheter
Machine, Neonatal Transport Incubators and Diabetic Retinal Camera and many others.
-
St. Michaels Hospital now offers excellent facilities for mothers and babies thanks
to the construction of the Central Delivery Suite and the Special Care Baby Unit.
-
With a constant source of funding, research can continue into Sudden Infant Death
Syndrome, cancer, leukaemia, disorders of the eye, cardiac surgery, diabetes, arthritis,
osteoporosis, gynaecological surgery, respiratory disease and many other conditions.
-
Staff at University Hospitals Bristol benefit from bursaries, awards and specific funding which enable the
costs to be met to attend training courses, conferences, and seminars to keep their
skills and knowledge up to date.
In addition to maintaining the provision of a range of amenities for patients and
staff, we have funded a number of projects that will benefit patient care, research
and teaching in our hospitals.
