Tucked in behind the Bristol Royal Infirmary, and landscaped into the leafy hillside facing Kingsdown, a large modern building is taking shape which will be a centre of excellence for the delivery of cardiac care. The building will provide cardiac services for patients from Bristol and the surrounding area, acting as the regional heart attack centre, as well as delivering specialised cardiac surgery and care to patients across the south west of England.

The new building will be the clinical base for the internationally renowned Bristol Heart Institute, a team of doctors, scientists and other health professionals who work at the forefront of cardiac research and treatment. The new building will provide modern, efficient and accessible facilities in one location that will deliver state-of-the-art healthcare. At the same time it will provide a welcoming space which will convey and promote a healing and caring environment.

Every year the Bristol Heart Institute team will treat thousands of patients and the aim of the Heart of Bristol Appeal is to make what is already set to be a great facility even better for them. The Appeal will add value to the £57 million NHS investment and will focus on two key areas of support - creating a positive healing environment and the enhancement of medical equipment and technology. Above and Beyond Charities has already raised £550,000 towards the £800,000 Appeal target but need the help of everyone across the south west to help raise the additional £250,000 required.
